Built by people who’ve done the rounds.

TSA started in a Gold Coast garage in 2014. Today it is 70+ staff across four states, with the rigging, hoisting, automation and drape work for hundreds of Australian venues and productions on the books.

01  /  The story

Not only theatre. Always live.

TSA was founded in 2014 by two industry doers who’d spent years on the tools before anyone called it a business. The first jobs were asset management software and safety inspections, run out of a garage on the Gold Coast.

The work pulled us into rigging installations, then drapes, then performer flying, then automation - because clients kept asking, and the in-house engineering kept saying yes. That pattern is still the company today. Solutions over supply.

Today TSA covers the full stage envelope - rigging, hoisting, drapes, track, automation, scenic fabrication, inspections, performer flying. All of it engineered, manufactured, installed and serviced by people on the TSA payroll. One point of accountability, from concept to commissioning.

Manufacture

Chapter 01 2014 The beginning

A garage on the Gold Coast.

TSA launches from a Gold Coast garage. First services: asset management software and safety inspections - built by industry doers for the venues they already knew.

Chapter 02 2015 First office

Track and drapes added.

Move into a proper space. Track and drape installations join the offer - the first step toward the full stage envelope, and the start of the in-house manufacturing pattern.

Chapter 03 2016 Room to grow

First warehouse opens.

Minor installs, product sales and performer flying join the lineup. The shape of the business starts to settle: engineer it, build it, install it, support it.

Chapter 04 2019 A bigger base

Production rentals come in-house.

Second warehouse. Stage automation joins the workshop. From this point, TSA can scope, supply, install and operate end-to-end - one accountable team from concept to commissioning.

Chapter 05 2021 National expansion

Two new workshops, two new states.

South Australia Scenic Workshop opens for soft goods and scenic build - pictured here with the heart portal for Moulin Rouge! The Musical on the workshop floor. New South Wales workshop opens for LX bar fabrication and motor controls. National coverage starts to look like national capability.

Chapter 06 2023 Workshop scales up

Hoist fabrication, in-house.

NSW assembly workshop expands. Product assembly, hoist fabrication and control system build all come fully in-house - one less subcontractor, one more layer of accountability.

Chapter 07 2024 Reveal joins the family

Drape manufacture, in the group.

Reveal Productions, a Melbourne drape manufacturer and curtain track installer, joins the TSA group. The drape and soft-goods offer steps up another notch - sewn, finished and shipped from inside the group.

Scenic, dance and museum, in the group.

Show Works by TSA joins the group - a Melbourne scenic and fabrication house running since 1995. Its team and assets add a Victorian scenic base, dance-studio equipment and museum and gallery fit-out to the in-house capability.
